Aqua Welsh Back becomes Aqua Italia
Aqua on Welsh Back follows in the footsteps of its sister sites in Bath and Clifton and evolves into the Italia brand, with an official launch on February 4th.
Aqua has thrived for the last decade as one of Bristol’s finest waterside dining destinations and 2010 sees the highly anticipated transformation of the Welsh Back restaurant into Aqua Italia.
The Italian formula has been successfully tried and tested at Aqua’s sister restaurants in Bath and Clifton and now the Aqua group step confidently into a new era serving healthy, tasty and beautifully-presented Italian cuisine at all their sites.
With tasteful new design and décor, a large alfresco heated terrace and prime location on Bristol’s historic cobbled wharf, Aqua offers a prime setting to enjoy the ‘dolce vita’.
Owner Richard Smithson set out to create an Italian with heart and soul. “A good Italian restaurant is neighbourly but distinctive, lively but romantic. I believe that the success of Aqua Italia reflects our customer’s passion for food and socializing, as well as the importance of home-grown roots and understanding what is relevant and appealing to people today.”
The new menu showcases the Italian flair for flavour with classic and modern antipasti, meat, fish, pasta and pizza dishes made with ingredients that are locally sourced and organic, where possible. It includes:
Starters of Carpaccio di Manzo e rucola (thinly sliced fillet of beef, red wine vinegar, rosemary and shallot dressing served with a rocket and red onion salad £7.95) and Insalata di fagiolini e gorgonzola (green bean and Gorgonzola salad with Italian sun kissed tomatoes and almonds £6.25).
Main dishes of Pappardelle all’anatra arrosto e funghi porcini (egg pappardelle pasta with slow cooked duck, porcini mushrooms, spring onions and tarragon £12.95), Gnocchi alla sorrentina (potato dumplings Sorrento style with pepperonata sauce, mozzarella and torn basil £9.50) and a traditional Tuscan dish of Tagliata di manzo (chargrilled sirloin with slow roasted tomatoes, rocket, parmesan shavings and chips £15.95).
Get a taste of Italy with the Classico Menu that offers great value choices at fixed prices from Sunday to Friday until 8pm and Saturday until 6pm, or get the full Aqua Italia experience with the A La Carte.
The wine cellar has been re-stocked to compliment the new menu, with a great selection of Italian wines plus some favourites from the rest of the world. There’s plenty of fizz on offer too, from Prosseco starting at £15 and a sparkly 2 4 1 deal on delicous fruity Bellinis until 7pm every day.
